Course Summary
APMP is the qualification for anyone who has worked within project management for up to two years, such as project office personnel, team members, or recently appointed project officers, or for anyone who has recently taken on project management responsibilities as part of their job. The five-day training course is followed by the three-hour written essay-based examination paper.
APMP is a knowledge-based foundation-level qualification enabling participation in projects from individual assignments through to large capital projects. It is aligned to Level D - the lowest level of the International Project Management Association (IPMA) certification programme - the Certified Project Management Associate. Thus the qualification is recognised worldwide.
The fee covers twenty 90-minute training sessions, refreshments (including lunch each day), a copy of the APM Body of Knowledge, the APM examination fee, a 220-page Study Guide, additional course material which includes copies of all slides used and sample questions.
This qualification allows candidates to demonstrate knowledge of all elements of project management in order to assist in the management of projects. Candidates with this qualification will be able to demonstrate an understanding of how these elements interact. They will also be able to understand how their project fits into their strategic and commercial environment.
The couses are presented in two formats. In each format, training lasts for five days and from course start to exam is 15 days. The one-week training course runs throughout one week from Monday to Friday; there is then a nine-day gap for revision before the examination on a Monday.
For people unable to attend for a full week, there are courses in London Westminster and Maidstone based on two days a week (Tuesday/Wednesday) for three consecutive weeks - the examination is on the last Wednesday.
All delegates are advised that the course requires a total of 60 hours study - only half of which is made up by the training sessions. At least 10 hours study is required before the course.
